The dreams and hopes of many people are yet unfulfilled because of controlling substances in their lives. Federal and State law defines Controlled Substances as narcotics, opiates and other unlawful substances like marijuana. You could even add alcohol to the list of controlling substances.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
We see through this verse that faith is substance. The word substance is defined as that which stands beneath; or in other words substance (faith) is the foundation for everything that we hope for. Therefore, why do we allow substance to control us? Actually, we should be standing on substances. We should be controlling substances.
In Genesis 1:28-30 we see where God gave man and woman control over substance.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat… I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Mankind has allowed the plants to control him; plants like cannabis, coca leaves and opium poppies. God gave us rule over the plants. Do you see where He said for us to subdue it? The word subdue means to dominate or literally bring it to its knees! We are to control substance and not to let substance control us.
Another meaning of the word substance is, physical material from which something is made. Hebrews 11:3 states, Through faith [substance] we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. The word of God should be our foundation. Through faith we can control substance (that which is unseen) to create the things that we hope for.
